Keep the battery connections clean
The cables and clamps of your car battery should be kept clean and free from corrosion. These can be easily kept clean with baking soda. Do be sure though if you use a brush, use a non-metallic one, when you take on this cleaning exercise. Otherwise a rag would work as well. Wipe off the baking soda once the cables have been cleaned, and that they are dry. Otherwise, this could actually speed up future corrosion, and lead to wasted efforts.

Check battery electrolyte level
Gently open up the covers of the battery cells. Shine a torch light into the openings to check if there is enough electrolyte. Be sure that the battery plates are covered with electrolytes. Otherwise, top up with clean, distilled water such that the plates can be covered. If you accidentally caused an overflow, be cautious not to touch the fluid as there is acid. Use protective gloves and wipe up the spills.

Find cooling parking spots
Whenever possible, choose a shaded parking area so as not to expose your car battery to extreme heat, given our very hot tropical weather in Singapore.
