Strut replacement

Experiencing signs of strut damage?

Some tell tale signs that your struts may be damaged include that suspension seems to be slumping. This could lead to a generally more bumpy ride, which you would feel even more when driving in uneven areas. As it is likely that the wear or damage is not evenly throughout, the misalignment could cause some tires to become more quickly worn out. You may also hear a clunk sound when you drive over bumpy areas. In the compression process, the metal parts of the worn out strut may be colliding into each other, hence producing such a sound. In the event of damage, as the control of the car would become affected – for instance, the tires’ grip on the ground could also be impacted, it is essential to have strut replacement. Given our often rainy weather in Singapore, this can have safety concerns.

Function of struts

Together with the shock absorbers, the struts serve a dampening function in the car’s suspension system, to ensure a softer, more comfortable ride over bumpy roads. The struts also serve the further purpose of providing support for the weight of the car. The struts are attached to the chassis of the car, both to the front as well as back wheels.

Common causes of car condenser malfunction

Causes of strut damage

Generally, struts damage arises from wear and tear from usage. The struts are put to hard work each time you take your car out for a drive, dampening the effects from the uneven roads to give you a smooth, levelled drive. If the conditions that you drive in tend to be rougher roads, these would cause more stress to your struts and lead to faster wear and tear. Struts typically can last for mileage of 100,000km or even more, before you need strut replacement.

We would carry out a thorough check on your suspension components and ascertain if indeed the struts are the parts causing you issues. A clunking noise that you hear, for instance may arise from differential issues rather than with the struts themselves.

How strut replacement is done

Is full replacement needed, or can just front strut replacement be done?

It may not be necessary for you to replace all your struts as the wear or damage could only be on certain parts. For instance, it could be that you only need front strut replacement, with the front also having to bear much more weight from the car engine. We can also carry out a wheel alignment for you, after the strut replacement, if a misalignment has resulted after driving for some time on faulty struts.

Prefer monroe struts,macpherson, or others?

Testimonials

After my free servicing period for my car, I thought it was time to look out for better priced alternatives. I gave ECV Car Service Singapore a call and tried out their service. It was a hassle free experience and good value. - Kenneth Chin, Buona Vista

I had a tire leak caused by a puncture after driving over some construction debris. ECV Car Service Singapore could fix this up for me so I don't need to spend on a new tire. Friendly workshop! - Mr K.T. Liew, Redhill

My car aircon was not functioning and I was not sure what the cause was. I initially brought my car to the dealer workshop and was told the compressor is down. But the price quoted for the compressor replacement was so high. I then gave ECV Car Service Singapore a call, and the price turned out to be much lower, and quality of service good. Thumbs up! - Joel Tan, Bukit Batok
