Valve Cover Gasket Replacement

In every car engine, there is a valve cover. This is made of either aluminium or plastic. The valve cover helps to cover the valve train components at the top of the engine. The valve cover gasket seals the gap between the valve cover and cylinder head. It helps to protect the motor oil from leaking out. Typically, in modern cars, you will find the valve cover gasket is made of rubber.

How Does the Valve Cover Gasket Break?

Over time, valve cover gaskets become prone to breakage under the pressure of high temperature from the engine running. Over time with the temperature variance, the gasket contracts and become brittle, and can crack. This causes an oil spill. If any sort of oil leakage takes place, it is very important to take care of it immediately as this can be dangerous. For instance, there can be vapour arising from the burnt oils, which could be detrimental to your health.

When Should You Replace the Valve Cover Gasket?

As there are no maintenance requirements for a valve cover gasket, it should be replaced only if you see any sort of oil leakage taking place. At times, where the valve cover gasket is found to be rather old, it could be suggested to be replaced.

How To Check if the Valve Cover Has Gone Bad?

You may see oil drops having seeped under the engine. You may also smell burnt oil under the hood. These are some signs that the valve cover gasket needs a replacement. However, the valve gasket is not only the place from where oil leakage can take place. Other engine components like crank seals, front engine cover seal, and other parts might also be the cause of oil leaks. Our mechanic can assist you to check accordingly and thoroughly, to ensure the safety of your car and appropriate replacement of parts.

Testimonials

After my free servicing period for my car, I thought it was time to look out for better priced alternatives. I gave ECV Car Service Singapore a call and tried out their service. It was a hassle free experience and good value. - Kenneth Chin, Buona Vista

I had a tire leak caused by a puncture after driving over some construction debris. ECV Car Service Singapore could fix this up for me so I don't need to spend on a new tire. Friendly workshop! - Mr K.T. Liew, Redhill

My car aircon was not functioning and I was not sure what the cause was. I initially brought my car to the dealer workshop and was told the compressor is down. But the price quoted for the compressor replacement was so high. I then gave ECV Car Service Singapore a call, and the price turned out to be much lower, and quality of service good. Thumbs up! - Joel Tan, Bukit Batok
