Pre-Purchase Car Inspection

When you consider buying a used car, it can be an ideal option to save money and keep your expenses within your budget. Typically the depreciation value per year would be much lower as compared to purchasing a brand new car. However, you do have to consider a couple of aspects when purchasing a used car. It is also necessary to check the vehicle history.

Pre-Purchase Car Inspection service

Learn More

For your peace of mind, you can engage us for a pre-purchase inspection. We understand it can be daunting for a typical buyer to carry out his / her own checks given the technical complexities of a car. We can assist you with the inspection, including of brakes, body, cooling system, fluids, suspension, air conditioning, tires, and engine. This is to avoid finding out shortly after your purchase that there are major repairs that need to be made, resulting in much higher expenses than anticipated. You can also consider the following factors when shopping for a used car.

Vehicle History

A complete servicing history, showing regular scheduled maintenance is a positive sign, as it is likely the previous owner has been taking good care of the car. In addition, the number of owners before you versus the age of the car should be taken into account. Many quick successive sales of the car could suggest there are operating problems with it.

Condition of Exterior

It is necessary to gauge the exterior condition of the car. For instance, is the paint in good condition, or there are significant scratches you would need to spend on repair for. In addition, look from an angle to see whether there are light indented parts to the vehicle, which could suggest an accident history.  Furthermore, check for rust patches on the car. The rust spots however be fixed, but would mean some incurred expenses.

Do also check the tires. Check that the tread is worn consistently, and all four tires should match. If there is uneven tread or excessive wear on some tires, it can imply poor alignment. This could be caused by bigger issues, such as steering, frame, or suspension issues.

Mileage

An average car generally clocks approximately 15,000 to 18,000 km/year. If you want to find out if the used car you intend to purchase has high or low mileage, you must divide the number on the odometer by the car’s age.

A car with high mileage may sustain increased wear and tear on its vital mechanical components, which would affect your maintenance expenses. A car with exceptionally low mileage could be of concern as well, as there is a risk the car has spent significant amount of time in workshops for repair rather than being on the roads.

Testimonials

After my free servicing period for my car, I thought it was time to look out for better priced alternatives. I gave ECV Car Service Singapore a call and tried out their service. It was a hassle free experience and good value. - Kenneth Chin, Buona Vista

I had a tire leak caused by a puncture after driving over some construction debris. ECV Car Service Singapore could fix this up for me so I don't need to spend on a new tire. Friendly workshop! - Mr K.T. Liew, Redhill

My car aircon was not functioning and I was not sure what the cause was. I initially brought my car to the dealer workshop and was told the compressor is down. But the price quoted for the compressor replacement was so high. I then gave ECV Car Service Singapore a call, and the price turned out to be much lower, and quality of service good. Thumbs up! - Joel Tan, Bukit Batok
