Louder-than-usual exhaust noise – It could be due to a hole or a crack in your exhaust.

Uneven engine noise – Listen to your engine when your car is in a stationary mode. Uneven engine noise could be due to engine misfiring or a threatening engine malfunction.

Other useful checks on your car condition

01

Thin Brake Pads

Ensure that your vehicle’s brake pad is at least a quarter inch thick. To make a quick check on this, turn your steering wheel to full lock and look directly onto the front of the caliper. Look though the caliper to determine if your brake pads appear thin and need replacement. Be very careful to avoid touching the disc, as you may burn your fingers.

02

Car control

If your vehicle is pulling in a different direction when you are driving, it could be due to a faulty braking system or a deflated tire. We suggest to get it checked and book a car servicing appointment without delay.

03

Engine warning light

For a new driver, your vehicle’s dashboard is the best reference to understand the condition of your car.  Check your car manual to identify the issues that are flagged to rectify the problems easily. Yellow engine light is the universal indicator that your vehicle needs car servicing soon. Never ignore the signs on the dashboard as you may end up paying a higher price if your car breaks down in the middle of the express highway.

Situations do get serious if noise from your car is overlooked. It may aggravate to overheating problems which will result in steam releasing from the radiator. Check the temperature gauge to determine if it is safe to continue driving. If it is already at the maximum, pull over your vehicle to cool it before moving on. Ensure that the needle is in the middle of the gauge when your vehicle starts running.

However, try to stop your car immediately if blue smoke is released from the vehicle. It is a sign that the engine is burning oil. This could be due to many reasons such as worn out valve seal, piston rings or gasket failure and more. Thus, oil leak inside the engine and to exhaust parts causing it to burn up with the fuel. Hence, it is necessary to stop the vehicle and engage a tow service to tow it to the garage. We would be able to assist you with car towing service also.

After my free servicing period for my car, I thought it was time to look out for better priced alternatives. I gave ECV Car Service Singapore a call and tried out their service. It was a hassle free experience and good value. - Kenneth Chin, Buona Vista

I had a tire leak caused by a puncture after driving over some construction debris. ECV Car Service Singapore could fix this up for me so I don't need to spend on a new tire. Friendly workshop! - Mr K.T. Liew, Redhill

My car aircon was not functioning and I was not sure what the cause was. I initially brought my car to the dealer workshop and was told the compressor is down. But the price quoted for the compressor replacement was so high. I then gave ECV Car Service Singapore a call, and the price turned out to be much lower, and quality of service good. Thumbs up! - Joel Tan, Bukit Batok
